Finally I have done something

Silk Dyeing

The Serti (finishing or fence) method may be the silk painting method in which styles are outlined with gutta or water-based resists, which are placed on white silk that has been pre-washed, dried and stretched (on a stretcher). Once the gutta or water-based resist has dried, it acts as a barrier when it comes to dye or paint—keeping colour inside the outlined aspects of the design and letting you attain sharply defined boundaries. After the dye or paint has been properly set, the clear gutta or withstand is taken away and a defining range the color for the initial material remains. Coloured guttas and resists are also available which are supposed to stay in the fabric.

Exactly how it is Done:

Prewash Your Silk
Pre-wash your silk manually or in the automatic washer on a gentle cycle with tepid water and Synthrapol. Rinse, dried out and, whenever however somewhat wet, press with an iron set-to the silk environment.

Prepare Your Design
The Serti Technique lends it self well to designs with encased places where colour is going to be included in the resist lines.

Draw your design to measure on an item of report, first-in pencil and look at it with a black colored marker, this will be your template. Lay your silk in addition to the template sufficient reason for a pencil or vanishing marker, gently draw your design onto the silk. With thick silks you may need to draw free-hand but getting your template will nonetheless help.

Making a Stretching Frame
You will require a-frame to stretch your silk and suspend it well the dining table.

There are a number of forms of frames you should use, with regards to the size of the piece you are painting, your allowance and something offered. Artist's canvas stretcher taverns work very well and offered at most art supply stores. Your framework needs to be smooth adequate to allow push pins or 3-pronged tacks to be pushed into it OR you can produce a 'trampoline' impact with elastic bands and hooks or silk clips (see below). The last method is most beneficial if you should be painting a bit which includes pre-finished edges, make sure that the interior dimensions of frame, are in minimum 2-3 inches bigger than the silk to prevent leaving bleed marks on hem.

In a-pinch, you might like to cut-out a-frame from a cardboard field.

Extend your silk onto your framework with pins, silk flash tacks or hooks spaced every 4-6 ins along each part. If you need to, you can connect elastic bands collectively for extended lengths. Rubber bands are excellent since they will take care of the tension for the silk obtainable.
