The Dabbling Crafter: DIY

Setting color in fabric

The chloride in salt helps seal the color into the fibers and keep it looking fresher for longer. The vinegar not merely softens the material, but it also prevents detergent build-up, which leeches color. This technique deals with numerous fabrics.

If the material is apparently losing lots of shade or gets the potential to reduce many shade, fill the washing machine midway with water, and add 1 cup of both sodium and vinegar. Mix really, and add the textile. Allow the material soak for just one time. When there is dye into the water, repeat the process until the water is clean whenever material is taken out.

Do not use hot-water unless washing away any extra dye. Sometimes, the garments is dyed precisely but has excess dye with it. Numerous garments aren't acceptably cleaned during manufacturing, so there might be ongoing items of dye into the fibers that failed to stick properly. One wash-in cold-water as well as 2 washes in hot water with detergent removes any free dye.
