DYLON Hand Dye Guidelines
GUIDELINES
1. Weigh dry material. Wash completely. Leave moist
2. Using rubber gloves, break down dye in 500ml warm water
3. Fill bowl/stainless metallic sink with approx 6 litres tepid water (40°C)
4. Stir in 250g (5tbsp) sodium. Add dye & stir well
5. Submerge fabric in liquid
6. Blend for 15mins, after that stir frequently for 45mins
7. Rinse fabric in chilled water. Wash in tepid water and dried out away from direct temperature & sunshine
IDEAS
• You will need 250g sodium
• 1 pack dyes as much as 250g textile (e.g. shirt) to complete tone or larger amounts to less heavy tone
• ideal materials: Cotton, linen and viscose. Wool, Silk, Polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose mixes will dye to lighter tone
• perhaps not appropriate: natural polyester, acrylic, nylon & material with special finishes
• Wash separately for first few washes to eliminate any excess dye
• take note: Colour mixing principles use (example. blue on red offers purple)
MICROWAVE DYING
• Hand dye can be used inside microwave generate special results.
• For cotton, linen, silk and polyester/cotton mixes just.
• Micro-Dyeing is not appropriate wool, viscose or synthetic materials.
• DON'T USE ON VISCOSE, AS FABRIC CAN GIVE OFF HARMFUL FUMES.
• Remove all-metal on fabric (zips, men, etc).
How To Use
1. Wash the fabric and leave wet.
2. Select your personal result and prepare the fabric by scrunching, knotting, twisting or folding – link all fabrics tightly.
3. Using rubber gloves, empty the dye carefully to the dish and gradually add 250 ml / ½ pint of hot water. Stir thoroughly to make certain dye is mixed. Add more 250 ml / ½ pint of liquid.
4. Place the material when you look at the dish and work to the dye.
5. Place the bowl into a synthetic bag or plastic place and put in microwave oven. Set on ‘high’ for 4 minutes.
6. After 4 moments remove the dish from range – remember to protect the hands from the heat.
7. Tip away the dye option and rinse the material in cool water. To guard the pattern don't undo any knots, twists, folds etc., before the liquid works obvious.
