Detailed
- Cover work area with a plastic dining table cover.
- Feathers must be clean. Wash gently in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. If feathers were purchased in a craft store, this is not necessary.
- Putting on rubber gloves, shake dye bottles. Utilize ¼ glass fluid dye or ½ package (1 tablespoon) dust dye with 1 quart scorching water (140 F), not boiling. For dark colors, utilize more dye. Pour into dye container; stir well. Be sure container is adequate to put on feathers. Do not add salt or vinegar to dye bath.
- Immerse feathers in dye bath. Carefully stir feathers until they're a color darker than desired because shade seems darker when wet. Dyeing could take as low as 2-5 mins. Usage an extended dyeing time for dark colors.
- Pull feathers and rinse carefully in tepid to warm water. Spread feathers on paper towels to air dry. Cannot make an effort to dry with temperature because may cause them in order to become dry and brittle. To keep the shape of feathers, avoid exorbitant handling.
